'Christmas Jam? What's with all this Christmas stuff all of a sudden?' Er, read the room. You might feel they can have a jar of plum jam made in the Autumn and be grateful. Alright, I respect that but I have never made a special Christmas Jam so for all of those people you haven't ear-marked the Christmas Mustard of last week's Workshop to gift, this will fit the bill. Not everyone likes mustard.
What I actually thought is when I spied the recipe, is there are a lot of people who cannot stand Christmas cake/pudding/minced pies - they don't like the fruit, find currants impossible to eat, whatever the reason is, they are a no-go area. The recipes I have found contained mainly cranberries which I think is a bit of a challenge so the recipe we have is mine, with different ingredients. As so many people say these days - irritatingly - I've made it my own.
I think it would be a very good alternative to mince pies - an open jam tart dusted with icing sugar, or thumb-print biscuits which would be a better alternative for younger children maybe. You could also have it layered with plain yoghurt as part of a festive brunch.
Of course, it should go without saying, it makes a great hamper addition or stocking filler. ( don't fret - Christmas is almost here )

I've thoroughly enjoyed your workshops over the last year and have learnt so much about preserving - there's a whole world out there, not just jams! Your warm and friendly approach is greatly appreciated, and you answer all our questions with endless patience. Thanks for giving me the confidence to experiment - as you say, what could go wrong?!
