Mustard Balls

Mustard Balls - an historic recipe to make mustard in our online workshop at Rosie's Preserving School UK
The Romans - 'What have they ever done for us?' Well, quite a lot as it turns out, with some very important culinary innovations. The humble mustard seed packs quite a punch and can be incorporated in all kinds of ways other than straightforward mustard

The Romans brought mustard seed with them when they came to Britain and it has been here ever since. They also taught us about convenience food, added flavour and growing a crop that was ideally suited to our temperate climate.

Try this Roman recipe for yourself and see which way you prefer your mustard

I've thoroughly enjoyed your workshops over the last year and have learnt so much about preserving - there's a whole world out there, not just jams! Your warm and friendly approach is greatly appreciated, and you answer all our questions with endless patience. Thanks for giving me the confidence to experiment - as you say, what could go wrong?!
